Lots of Dots

20120603-152010.jpg

I’m sure I am boring you guys to death with all of my polka dot manicures, but I can’t get enough. The color combinations and styles are endless!! This one was a tad time consuming, but so easy.
I really like the dark grey background and the colors I chose for the dots.

Love the dots!!! What did you use to get them all so perfectly round?

    • normandlou / Jun 12 2012 11:01 pm

I used a dotting tool. They are my very favorite nail art tool. So easy and a perfect result every time.

Where can I buy a dotting tool? Sally Hansen store?

      • normandlou / Jun 12 2012 11:36 pm

Sally beauty? I’m not sure. I’m in Canada. I order a full set on amazon.com for under 5 dollars. You could also use the head of a pin in the mean time. If you YouTube “make your own dotting tool” you will find a lot of ideas for household items that you could do! Have fun!

This is really cute – love the bright colors over dark! They have dotting tools at some Wal-marts in as well.

Thanks! I also saw them at shoppers drug Mart, but I believe that is just a Canadian thing.

Okay, I’ll plan to hunt for them on my next W’mart trip. Have not heard of Shoppers Drug Mart before….Sally Hansen is big here…..beauty supply store for hair, makeup, nails, etc kind of stuff. If not at W’mart, I’ll order as you said on Amazon. Thanks so much!!! Have a great day! 🙂

        Or eBay!

I went onto YouTube like you suggested and saw lots of “make it yourself” ideas for these dotters. I think just about any of them would do the job. Happy to have found this nail painting way as it’s very pretty! Thanks again for all of your help. 🙂

What is the grey color you used as the background?

    • normandlou / Jul 27 2012 7:26 pm

Thanks for stopping by! It is Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear in Grey Area. A super inexpenive polish!

Cute design? Is this on top of natural nails or acrylic?

    • normandlou / Aug 29 2012 10:18 am

All of my designs are on my own natural nails.

What kind of polish did you use for the dots? I tried this but my colors although vibrant in the bottle are not showing up on the black as yours did.

    • normandlou / Oct 16 2012 10:49 am

Yes. It takes some experimenting for sure. I find that a lot of the inexpensive Sally Hanson polishes work well for nail art. They are often almost too thick to use as a base color. They are usually super pigmented and work really well. Hope this helps.

Nail Newbie here! Do you just let it air dry or do you use some other type of tool to dry them faster?

    • normandlou / Mar 20 2013 1:28 pm

Hey! I will often use a fast dry top coat. I’m not too picky about brand, most work really well.
